Hello everyone and welcome! I’m Melissa, the owner and founder of Mel.By.Design!

I’d like to start off by thanking you for taking the time to check out my website. It took many hours of planning to put this all together, so I deeply appreciate and thank you. <3

Just a little bit about myself and some fun facts: I am a mother of two little amazing boys and wife to a talented and wonderful chef. We live in beautiful Canada (Eh!) and have lived here all my life. I grew up competitive figure skating and playing the piano but since retiring from skating have found a love of dance… in heels!

Prior to starting Mel.By.Design, I was an instructor with the city teaching skating to participants ages three to eighty! Then came the pandemic at the start of 2020 that changed and challenged us all.

 

Growing up, I watched my mother and grandmother create many beautiful crafts and sewing many beautiful pieces of clothing; so I guess you could say DIY projects and arts ran in our blood. One day my sister asked my to make magnets for her and I happily agreed. Unfortunately, I could not find exactly what I needed and began to do some research. At the end I found my medium – resin.

 

After many experiments, trials and errors - and at the encouragement of my family - I started to post my work on Instagram. What had initially started as an experiment, turned into so much more. Working with resin and creating these pieces really became an outlet for me to express myself.
